A Walk Across Pont de Bir-Hakeim, Paris
Few bridges in Paris have this much character. Pont de Bir-Hakeim is not only a crossing, it’s a scene-stealer! It stretches across the Seine between the 15th and 16th arrondissements, with one of the best, uninterrupted Eiffel Tower views in the city.
What makes it special? The double-deck design. The top level carries Metro Line 6, where passengers get a jaw-dropping moment as the train bursts into the open with the Eiffel Tower towering beside them.
Below, the pedestrian walkway is framed by a tunnel of steel columns, creating that perfect cinematic symmetry – which is exactly why filmmakers love it. You’ve seen it in Inception, Last Tango in Paris, and countless fashion shoots.
Beyond the aesthetics, this bridge has history. Built in the early 1900s, it was originally named Pont de Passy before being renamed in honor of the French soldiers of the Bir Hakeim battle in WWII.
The statues at both ends add to its beauty, including a striking equestrian sculpture, “La France Renaissante.”
This video takes you through it step by step – the curve of the river, the shimmering light under the arches, the rhythm of bikes and pedestrians, and that unbeatable view of the Eiffel Tower standing tall. See (or remember) why this bridge is pure Parisian magic!
