Aix-en-Provence · November 2026

Aix-en-Provence in November: low season, and the sunniest of our stops.

Provence’s quietest month · About 7 hours of sun a day · No school holidays after Nov 8

November is Aix at its quietest. Across Provence, visitor numbers fall to about 14% of the August peak and to less than half of October’s. No month of the year is calmer (Eurostat, 2023–25).

The weather is a touch kinder than in the rest of Provence. Aix averages 58°F highs over the month, starting near 62°F and ending around 54°F. It gets two to three rainy days a week and a little over seven hours of sunshine a day, slightly more than Avignon.

French schools are back on November 2. The only foreign breaks are early: Bavaria until November 6 and Flemish Belgium until November 8. After that, there’s no multi-day school holiday in France, Germany, Belgium or the Netherlands for the rest of the month (service-public.fr, OpenHolidays).

Bottom line: November suits a slow Aix stay, with mild afternoons and the region at its quietest. The first half of the month is warmest.

Where to stay in Aix-en-Provence

Hôtel Saint Christophe, Aix-en-Provence

An art deco hotel a minute’s walk from the Cours Mirabeau, with its own brasserie and a breakfast buffet guests rave about. Rooms are modern and quiet, some with balconies, and you get free use of a gym nearby. Pets are welcome too.

Boutique Hotel Cezanne (4★), Aix-en-Provence

A polished hotel a minute from the train station and a short walk to the Cours Mirabeau and Parc Jourdan. Rooms are quiet and well equipped, with notably comfortable beds and blackout curtains. The breakfast buffet is what guests mention most, though it isn’t cheap. There’s an underground garage, but spaces are limited, so reserve ahead.

Hôtel des Augustins (3★), Aix-en-Provence

A former convent just off the Cours Mirabeau, with a stone lobby and staircase that guests love to photograph. Breakfast is generous, and the front desk is known for good restaurant tips. Rooms vary: some are quiet with big bathtubs, others show their age, so it’s worth asking for a renovated one.
