Place Garibaldi is located at the edge of Old Nice, a large square with impressive architecture and a buzzing atmosphere. Built in the late 1700s, it’s one of the city’s oldest squares, surrounded by pastel-colored buildings and arcades. The statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi in the centerhonors the Italian revolutionary, who was born in Nice.

The square is also a hub for tram connections, so it’s a convenient place to start or end your tour of Old Nice. It’s also lined with bistros and bars where locals gather, especially in the evenings.
