Rue des Gravilliers Named One of the Coolest Streets in the World

Time Out has released its 2025 list of the 31 Coolest Streets in the World, and Rue des Gravilliers in the 3rd arrondissement landed at number 13 – the highest French entry on the list.

It’s sitting alongside streets in cities like Rio, Osaka, Porto, Montreal, Berlin, New York and Thessaloniki, which puts this short Marais street in serious global company.

Time Out highlights how old the street is – it dates to the 13th century. But the ranking is based on its current scene. The common thread is how much activity fits into a small stretch.

Restaurants, canteens, galleries, specialty food shops, and new openings keep the street busy from morning to night.

Gravilliers has become one of the most food-dense streets in central Paris. Time Out points to places like Jixiao’s Buns for Chinese buns, Finka for contemporary plates, Mischief for creative cooking, and Derrière for its unusual setup and long tables.

They also mention the bakery Sain, known for slow-fermented sourdough, and the cheese shop Taka & Vermo, which has built a strong following among locals.

Also noted is Kasiki, a bar-ice-cream spot where you can pair wine with ice-cream, one of the street’s more unexpected stops.

Culture also plays a big part in the ranking. Time Out calls out art galleries such as Balice Hertling and PACT, both active in the contemporary scene.

The street remains a lived-in part of the Marais with constant foot traffic and a mix of people passing through for everyday reasons, not just sightseeing.

That combination of heritage, strong independent food spots, and steady cultural life is what pushed Rue des Gravilliers onto the global ranking and into the spotlight for 2025. Walk it once and you understand why it made the list!
